Security Deposit Policy
Last updated: October 2026
The deposit is refundable — not an extra fee. Here's how it works, what it protects against, and when it comes back.
01How the deposit works
A refundable security deposit is required for every rental. It is separate from your rental total and protects against damage or additional charges during the rental.
No payment or deposit is taken online when you send a booking request. Our team confirms how and when the deposit is collected when we confirm your booking.
02Deposit amount
The deposit amount varies by vehicle and is confirmed at booking, before you sign your rental agreement — so you know the exact amount in advance.
03Release
Your deposit is released after the vehicle is returned in its original condition and the return inspection is complete. How long it takes for funds to show as available depends on your bank or card issuer.
04What can be deducted
The deposit may be applied to costs beyond normal use, such as:
- Damage to the vehicle, wheels, or interior beyond normal wear
- Excessive cleaning, or damage from smoking
- Fuel or mileage charges as set out in your agreement — see Mileage & Fuel
- Tolls, traffic citations, parking tickets, and related fees
- Insurance deductibles where applicable
If charges exceed the deposit, the renter remains responsible for the difference, as set out in our Terms of Service.
